Transform your life…change your diet…

Is that really possible….you may ask? Does what you eat really affect the way you feel?

Well…how do you feel today?

Tired? Depressed or anxious - or both? Are you suffering from asthma, eczema, acne or sugar (even salt) cravings? Do you experience pre-menstrual or pre- menopausal or menopausal symptoms? Are you unhappy with your weight? Do you experience uncomfortable digestive symptoms?

These are just a few of the problems that may improve with the help of Nutrition Therapy.

What is Nutrition Therapy?

Nutrition Therapy supports the body’s own healing capacity through the healing power in foods.

It can help with a variety of complaints and ailments such as fatigue, asthma, eczema, depression, insomnia, mood swings, fertility, hormonal imbalance, sugar cravings, weight management, thyroid and adrenal sub-optimal function, skin problems, stress-related symptoms and digestive problems to name a few.

Our present-day diet and lifestyle puts the body under undue stress, disabling its capacity to perform the functions it is designed to – maintain balance in the body through balancing blood sugar, balancing hormone levels, efficient digestion, immune function and energy production so we can live a healthy, active and joyful life.

It is also important to understand the connection between your physical health and mental health. If your diet consists mainly of refined sugar and flour, processed foods, fizzy drinks, alcohol, tea and coffee, these may exacerbate the feelings of depression and anxiety caused by other life problems.

I have a down-to-earth approach using nutrition, health coaching and counselling to help you connect with yourself at the physical, mental and emotional levels.

I firmly believe that eating the right foods, at the right times, with the right attitude goes a long way in improving your health and well-being.

KEY TO LIVING LIFE JOYFULLY….

Eat natural….

…. and wholesome foods. Foods that are in season give us the nutrients and energy we need for that time of year. If we are in tune with our body we will naturally choose what is right for us. But that’s not all - how we prepare our food and eat it, when we eat and how we feel when we eat are also essential if our body is to break down and extract the nutrients from the food efficiently.

Keep moving…

It doesn’t matter what you do …just do it regularly! Our modern lifestyle of sitting for long hours is as detrimental to our physical and mental health as a diet consisting of mainly processed foods.

Exercise has proven benefits not just for the body but also for the mind. If you feel low mood or have felt depressed for some time, any form of gentle exercise has an immediate impact on the brain chemistry, releasing the feel-good chemicals that lift your mood.

….and Relax

Most of us are not breathing properly. Relaxation is of the utmost importance if our bodies are to function normally. We are not aware that when we are stressed (which is most of the time these days), we are in the ‘fight or flight’ mode. The body does not differentiate between the type of stress - mental, emotional or physical - it’s response is the same - it shuts down the systems that are not needed to deal with a threat. The first one to go is our digestive system.
